Sheida received her Master’s degree in 2016 in the L’Abbe lab. Her thesis examines foods containing high levels of added nutrients, such as vitamins, minerals and amino acids and investigates the i) prevalence; ii) the types and amounts of added nutrients; iii) the nutrient profile; iv) and the marketing trends of these foods. Her work was a collaboration with Health Canada and results will be used to revise existing policies to help create an appropriate regulatory framework for foods with high levels of added nutrients, otherwise referred to as supplemented foods. Sheida is currently in dental school at the University of Toronto.
