Jennifer is an assistant professor in the School of Nutrition at Toronto Metropolitan University. She earned her PhD in 2024, which focused on the potential dietary impacts of Canada’s front-of-pack labelling regulations. In addition to her PhD work, she led several research projects, including studies on the quality of plant-based protein foods, e-commerce labelling, and the dietary implications of changes to food policies. Her doctoral research was supported by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research Frederick Banting and Charles Best Canada Graduate Scholarship Doctoral Award, Smart Cities Interventions to Build Healthy Cities Training, as well as the U of T Banting and Best Diabetes Centre Novo Nordisk Studentship.

Jennifer is also a registered dietitian with the College of Dietitians of Ontario. She is passionate about transforming our food system and promoting healthy dietary behaviours through public health policy, research, digital technology, and various nutrition communication methods. She has a wide breadth of experience in dietetics and nutrition research, including energy balance, exercise physiology, dietary assessment, nutrient profiling models, nutritional epidemiology, and knowledge synthesis. Prior to joining the L’Abbe Lab, she completed her Master of Public Health at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health with a Collaborative Specialization in Public Health Policy.
