Graduate Students

M.Sc. & Ph.D Degree Program

I am always on the lookout for bright and self-motivated graduate students. You can choose to develop your own project or do research on one of my ongoing projects. Typically I have 6-7 graduate students in my lab at any given time and work closely with each of them to develop and carry out research projects that can be published in top-tier peer-reviewed journals. Candidates should have strong writing and quantitative analysis skills, with an ability to work well under minimal supervision. Please see the Department of Nutritional Sciences website for admission requirements.

Funding

University of Toronto stipend awards are provided to all graduate students. However, applicants are strongly encouraged to seek external support if they wish to be admitted to this Department.  Many graduate students in the L’Abbe Lab have received external funding from the following sources:

    • Canada Graduate Scholarship CGS M (CIHR) – $17,500
    • Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) – $15,000
    • Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR D) – $35,000 per year
    • CIHR Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship – Awarded to outstanding PhD students.  The award is $50,000 per year for three years.

Please see the Department of Nutritional Sciences website for additional information on funding.
