Beatriz is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Ontario Tech University. In September 2015, she began her PhD training under the supervision of Dr. L’Abbé. Her doctoral research investigated the use of nutrition claims and front-of-pack labelling in the Canadian packaged food supply and on consumers’ perceptions. She also evaluated the prevalence of trans fats in foods and gluten free claims. Her PhD training was supported by a CIHR Scholarship. She also has received competitive awards including the Canadian Nutrition Society’s Mohammed Moghadasian Award. Beatriz received a B.Sc. in Engineering in Food Industries from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) in Mexico, and a MSc. in Production and Operations Management from the Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden. She was an exchange student at the University of Manitoba during her undergraduate studies and she has 10+ years of professional experience in the areas of regulatory affairs, product development and project management.
